Yearbook 2021
McAuley House Report
As much as it seems somewhat cliche to start a year report ‘what a year it’s been’ in this instance it truly is appropriate. As a house group and indeed as a college community we have negotiated the many highs and lows that the ‘new normal’ of Covid has thrust upon us. It was philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche that stated “that which does not kill us makes us stronger” and with that in mind I am incredibly proud of the resilience and strength of character that the McAuley students and staff have displayed throughout the year as we were faced with the challenges of online learning and cancellation of many of the annual college events that we all look forward to. Truly nothing seemed insurmountable and you should all feel justifiably proud of your achievements this year as well. Even though we may have missed out on many of our regular events, the McAuley spirit has remained strong and we have laid the foundation for greater and more positive things to come. I would also like to especially thank the McAuley team; Mrs Stadtmiller, Mrs Hill, Mr Krakue, Mr Mergard, Mrs Riordan, Mrs McLachlan, Mr Quinn, Mrs Tyrrell and of course Mrs McGrath for working incredibly hard to support the wellbeing of the McAuley students and shepherding them through this difficult time. Our wonderful student leaders Alice Stuart and Giselle Capra who have always had a smile at the ready, were reliable and enthusiastic, thank you, we wish you all the best for the future.
Moving forward into 2022 I hand the reins back to Mrs McGrath and wish her and McAuley House all the best for the new year.
