Yearbook 2021
Hennessy has a great reputation with local businesses and I am grateful to the many employers who keep in touch and let me know when they are recruiting. It enables me to forge ongoing relationships and links between school and work and is a win-win for everyone. Workshops and webinars Throughout the year, many students from Years 7-12 took the opportunity to participate in careers-based webinars, competitions and workshops held by various universities and organisations. The impact of COVID meant that many sessions were held online and in some ways, this makes it easier for students to take part, although the number of events on offer was sometimes overwhelming! Well done all those who put themselves forward to learn more about various careers including the 18 Year 7 students who tuned in to hear Emma Lenon talk about a career in wool classing as part of National Agriculture Day in November, the ag industry needs more wool classers now more than ever. Year 11 - Careers interviews In Term 4, as the ‘new’ Year 12’s begin their final HSC year, I have met one-on-one with each student to get an idea of their post school plans. This helps me to understand and meet their needs and interests going into their final year. My role always revolves around working closely with the Year 12 students and giving them the skills and knowledge they need to make informed career choices, both now and into the future. Hopefully their final year will be a better one in terms of learning and career engagement. In closing, it has been my absolute pleasure to support so many wonderful young people as they prepare themselves for life after Hennessy and I wish them all the very best. A big thanks also to my colleagues, for all their support and cooperation in allowing me to meet with students and do the job I enjoy so much. I look forward to 2022.
